1. Services

Companion Reader provides library management, EPUB reading, cover display, progress sync, underlines, highlights, quotes, notes, AI chat, summaries, chapter extraction, categorization and Obsidian export. Features may vary by platform, membership tier and region.

2. Account & Security

• Users should register with real, lawful, contactable information.
• Users should safeguard accounts, passwords, verification codes, API Keys and device permissions.
• Losses from user-disclosed credentials, shared accounts or weak passwords are the user's responsibility.
• Users should change passwords or contact support upon detecting account anomalies.

3. User-Uploaded Content

Uploaded books, covers, notes, underlines, quotes and AI chats are user content. Users must ensure lawful sources that don't infringe others' rights.

To provide service, users authorize Companion Reader to store, parse, process covers, sync, search, AI-process and backup content within necessary scope. This authorization is for service provision only, not ownership transfer.

4. Prohibited Conduct

• Uploading or distributing illegal, infringing, malicious, fraudulent or socially harmful content.
• Mass registration, service attacks, quota circumvention, membership cracking or scraping others' data.
• Using Companion Reader for copyright infringement, rule circumvention or other illegal purposes.
• Maliciously consuming system APIs, server resources, storage or degrading others' experience.

5. AI Output Disclaimer

AI-generated summaries, categories, extractions, chat replies and corrections may be inaccurate, incomplete or unsuitable. Users should verify AI output and not rely on it as the sole basis for legal, medical, investment, academic or other high-risk decisions.

6. Membership & Payment

Membership benefits, pricing, quotas, renewal, refunds and fair use rules are as shown on the membership page. Users should confirm plan details, expiry, payment method and refund rules before subscribing.

7. Intellectual Property

Companion Reader's software, pages, interactions, trademarks, icons, copy, technical solutions and materials are legally protected. Without permission, users may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, sell, rent, mirror or use for competing products.

8. Service Changes & Termination

We may adjust features, pricing, quotas and rules due to upgrades, security maintenance, server migration, third-party changes or legal requirements. Major changes will be communicated via website, in-app notices or other reasonable means.

9. Disclaimer & Liability Limitation

To the extent permitted by law, Companion Reader is not liable for losses from force majeure, third-party failures, network interruptions, device issues, user errors, uploaded content infringement or AI provider anomalies beyond legal requirements.
